yes, we take coffee just as seriously as we take our bread. we offer a variety of exceptional filter coffees. read more about our coffees on this page

do you sell pastries?
we focus on bread, but we do offer a selection of viennoiserie like croissants and cinnamon rolls.

what does viennoiserie mean?

viennoiserie refers to a category of baked goods made with laminated dough, enriched with ingredients like butter, eggs, and milk. These pastries sit between bread and pâtisserie in terms of richness and texture. classic examples include croissants, pain au chocolat, danishes, and brioche.

fun fact: the term comes from vienna, Austria, but the techniques were perfected and popularized in france.

are you halal?
we are almost halal. we are always looking for great alternatives to replace non-halal ingredients—like turning our haram and cheese croissant into a halal and cheese croissant. stay tuned!

can I bring my dog inside?

we are working on an online ordering system. for now, you can email info@bakkerijlouf.nl to request an order, but we can only accommodate special cases.

we work with a delivery partner, please email your request to info@bakkerijlouf.nl. we will try to answer as soon as possible.

do you ship bread and other products abroad?
we do not ship baked goods or merchendise abroad.

do you wholesale (B2B) your bread?

yes, we supply a number of cafés and restaurants across amsterdam. if you're interested in working with us, reach out to order@bakkerijlouf.nl, or read more here.

what goes into your bread?
water, flour, and a pinch of salt. oh, and a whole lot of patience and craftsmanship.

do you slice your bread?
our bread is different from most. it contains 80% water—meaning we add 80g of water for every 100g of flour. this gives it its signature texture and flavor while keeping it fresh for longer. even after a few days, a quick reheat in the oven brings it back to life.

however, this high hydration makes our bread too delicate for slicing machines, as the dough would stick to the blades.

what's the best way to keep your bread fresh?
ideally, in a bread box. second to that, in a paper bag or simply with the cut side of the loaf facing down on the cutting board, covered with a tea towel. unsliced loaves last longer than sliced ones — several days for wheat loaves and almost a week for ryes.

for the longest shelf life, store your bread in the freezer. you can use one of our paper bags or pick up one of our reusable freezer bags, available in our stores.

do you sell gift cards?
they are available for purchase in-store and can be redeemed at any of our locations.

do you have a loyalty program?
yes! we have stamp cards. collect stamps with your purchases and enjoy rewards along the way. ask for one in-store!

what do you do with leftover bread?
our goal is to never throw away a loaf of bread. although this may happen occasionally, we strive to ensure that every loaf finds its way to a mouth.

to make this happen, we work together with two great initiatives that pick up the bread when it doesn’t sell:

every tuesday, mothers from our westerpark neighborhood come together to cook warm, nourishing meals for people in need. your bread plays a part in these meals, offering a small sense of comfort and stability to those who need it most.

every saturday, buurtbuik repurposes food that would otherwise go to waste, preparing meals for the community. it’s about more than just saving food – it’s about bringing people together, creating moments of connection, and turning surplus into something meaningful.
